Almost a Gusher

Writer's picture: AllisonAllison

Earlier this week I was in the bathroom of our home. The studio is on the other side of the house but if you stand in the doorway you can see all the way across the house into the studio. I heard a very loud "OH OH" from my husband and then silence... Concerning. I stepped into the doorway and saw him stumbling across the house, his right hand clutching his inner elbow/upper forearm and blood rushing down his arm.

I screamed for our daughter and ran to him. I had no idea what he had done. Had he cut himself with an exacto knife? Had he stabbed his artery with an airbrush needle? Had he done any number of things that could result in this type of injury? My mind was racing.

As I got close to him in the back of my mind I thought, "That isn't running as fast as blood should" as blood is mostly water. But the lighting in our kitchen, where I met him, isn't the best and I continued to rush to help him. Just as I got to him he looked up at me, started to grin, and pulled his hand away. IT WAS PAINT. It was Spraygunner house brand ChromAir paint in the shade "Bloody Mary".

I jerked back. About that time our daughter got downstairs. She was equally upset, "Bill! What did you do?" He barely got his grin under control before he said, "Will you get me a towel... To wipe off this paint?"

"BILL!" she yelled. "You're sleeping in the yard!" I said.

He wasn't even sorry. He said if he apologized it meant he would try not to do it again. And he couldn't promise that. Harrumph.

The pictures in this post were taken after the initial prank. I said I was going to contact his supplier and tell them not to send any more red paint to him. His supplier, Spraygunner, had sent him this and some other colors to test. The easiest way to reach them is via social media. The lighting in these photos is much better than the lighting in our kitchen. The initial prank the paint looked even more like real blood. But, for social media purposes, these were convincing enough. So, to answer your question, yes, he is still alive. He isn't insured so...

Le sigh. I hope your weekend is not as eventful as this day was for us! Be well y'all.
