Back to his origins

If you recall one of my first posts was about how this started. My husband started airbrushing on our kitchen table about seven years ago. Our kitchen table quickly became airbrush central. In redoing the studio, scraping ceilings and then priming and painting with an airless sprayer, he finally had to move out of that room. I got a picture from him at work one day of his airbrushing set back up on the same kitchen table. He said, "Back where it all started."

Indeed he was. It was temporary, we knew, but still nostalgic.

My husband scraped the texture off the ceiling, then he used an airless sprayer to spray pva primer. Then the real primer went on ceiling and walls. And finally the soft grey we had decided to use in the house. Valspar Tempered Gray, if you are wondering. It's very soothing and calming. A far cry from our vibrant Tiger's Eye yellow orange and lime green and purples. But it was time to get away from that particular color triad for awhile.

On the recommendation of our youngest's dad we had purchased the Wagner Control Pro 130. Airless spraying paint is not airless, I soon learned. Nor is it super clean. It leaves a fine mist from the atomization of the paint so you have to protect anything you don't want paint on. In this case we were spraying an empty room so it wasn't a big deal. The mist does come off, but it was still a little like seeing snow flurries that wouldn't melt everywhere.

What we do like about the airless spraying is it is QUICK. As long as you keep your paint container full it will just spray away. That was certainly helpful in helping our efficiency. And the clean up is fairly easy as well. Just use water and a rag. And don't forget to run water through your hose until the paint that was in there is gone. You don't want it to dry in there. Then your hose will be hopelessly clogged.

If you want to check out the one we have, you can find it here: https://amzn.to/3ESSnTX Per usual, Amazon suggests others as well on that link. You can look at all of them. If we had to do it over I think we would have bought a model that had different nozzles and spray patterns, but for what we were using it for it worked fine.

I told y'all I am learning a lot! I hope this is helpful for someone!

Be well, y'all.
