Free help isn't always the best help

My poor husband. He spent three decades running job sites and telling mechanically minded people how to do things correctly and efficiently. And now we are in the middle of renovating our house and for help he has myself and our youngest.

Heaven help him, I know he gets frustrated with us. We aren't very mechanical and often go about things the harder way. In knowing this, he was struck with an idea at our local Harbor Freight one day. They had these rolling tool bags on clearance. He bought two of them. He put a set of common hand tools in each one and then some other tools he would use regularly. And because they were on wheels, both your youngest and I could move them around without too much difficulty. (Tools can be heavy, yo.)

He also put all the drill bits he thought he would use in one small bit container that would live in one of the bags. That way when he needed a certain bit he didn't have to try explain to his mechanically challenged help which one he needed, we just had to bring him the small box.

Items he needed became named different things. His small hand broom and dust pan is now called the "Little Friend". It sounds silly when he says he needs his Little Friend but we know exactly what he is talking about. Quarter round he picked up from Lowe's were "sticks" our youngest was sent to get out of his vehicle. 2.5" screws became the gold screws. (As in, I need some Gold Screws please.) Dry wall screws became dark gray screws. Roofing nails are nails with hats. While that sounds silly I like to think it is him trying to meet us where we are, which is hopelessly behind any help he ever had on a job.

As you can see from the photos his new bag system came with photos and instructions. He hasn't lost his mind completely yet so maybe we are getting better.

Unfortunately, the bags he bought were on clearance and are no longer available. One similar can be seen here: https://amzn.to/3q8I4Hg

Be well, y'all.
