Plot Twist

I know we were working on the kitchen, but let's toss a plot twist in here and move to the laundry/studio. In my last installment we started on that area. My husband has ADD. He has since he was small, back when they didn't know what it was. He has learned to use it to his advantage in many ways, one of which is to have multiple projects going on at the same time. It was what helped make him such a phenomenal project manager in his previous career. That being said, the kitchen still needs some work but for now we are shifting gears to the laundry/studio area. Our kitchen is functional so we can loop back to it later.

We had done some work on the walls in the studio area between the living room and the laundry. I think I already shared those. The above snap is of the new back door my husband installed so we could come and go easily still when we have to take our deck down and rebuild it. It is way past it's prime. Also we think the doggy door may go there eventually for our precious angels.

Funny story about this door, I went to work one Saturday morning and we didn't have an egress there. A dear colleague and friend of mine happened to be at work with me that day. Her husband has a truck. On our morning break we chatted about plans and I mentioned we needed to get a door and some drywall. About an hour later her husband and my husband were coordinating to pick up the things we needed. We are very appreciative.

So, when I came home there was a door sized hole in the rear exterior wall of my house, framed in for a door, and a new door leaning against said wall, not installed yet. It was a little disconcerting. By bedtime the door was installed and working perfectly. Yes, it still needed to be trimmed in, etc, but hey, it was functional!

So the next morning, this was the view from the studio into the laundry.

I know, still a long way to go.

Yes, that is the start of custom build ins

The door is in. Time to organize the laundry. In the photo above you can see some shelves and partitions. The cabinets ("boxes" my husband calls them) are from our kitchen. We decided not to rehang all the cabinets we originally had in there. He had set those aside thinking they might come in handy. They did. The partitions are two old closet doors he had tucked away in our attic. They offered a TON of storage above our washer/dryer set and the right hand wall of my new hanging laundry basket system...

Yes, I said hanging laundry basket system. Isn't it beautiful? One of the old closet doors served as the other wall for the cleats to attach to and now not only do my baskets hang, they slide. Storage, lovely, useful, roomy STORAGE!

...I should probably get out more often... There is still a lot of work to do and we are nowhere near done, but I am super excited for the progress we've made! Ok, he's made. I mostly hand him stuff.

If you want to grab some of those laundry baskets, I got mine here:

Be well, y'all.
