Starting to get into the studio

Even though we have done all this other work the studio still had to have a major redo. You can see from the photos in this post it was definitely a working studio but not necessarily the one we wanted. As my husband began working on it Rico appointed himself Head Helper and jumped right in. If Daddy was on the floor, he was in his lap. Then if that didn't work, he got up and gave him hugs and kisses. He is a very good helper.

The red walls in the studio were my idea. I really wanted something bold and colorful. In hindsight, it wasn't the best choice. But the studio needed more than just paint. It needed a ton of work. So we got started.

What amused me the most is my husband and I talked about scraping the texture off the ceiling versus leaving it. He said he didn't want to do it. Said it would be a pain in the a$$. Said he wouldn't do it. A few days later I came home from work to him on a ladder sanding away at the textured ceiling. I said, "Honey? We talked about this, just days ago. You said you weren't going to do it. Said you didn't want to do it." He shrugged and kept sanding. #mylifewithanartist

A funny for you... To keep dust down and out of the main part of the house we ordered a magnetic door for the studio. You hang in on the frame and then it has plastic sheets that meet in the middle and close with magnets. I guess the folks in China (that's where the label said it was made) thought us Americans like things fancy because you can see the small strip of lace at the top of our magnetic plastic door. 🤣

During this whole process my husband still had commissions to do and paintings to complete. He set up a temporary work space that was no where near what he needed but hey, you do what you gotta do, right?
There is so much more work to do and so much more to come. The red walls will soon be no more. Keep an eye out for more updates.
Be well, y'all.
